I loved how our final project for Digital Art 1 was our webventure! I felt it was a great way to conclude our amazing semester, as we could exhibit our personality and our strengths through this website experience. After designing and completing my own webventure through Wix, I feel way more prepared to create interactive and visually appealing websites in my near future. Being able to create a website that is organized but appealing to the viewer is a very important aspect of a well-made site. I feel like I have learned many techniques to visualizer and achieve my goals in digital art. During this class I really discovered and built upon my adobe skills, as well as my creative drive in art. I am so happy to be sufficient in After Affects and be able to better use all the other Adobe software. I am excited to continue to pursue my love for art, especially digital art through all of my newly learned skills.

Every day I am discovering more parallels between my passions. Recently my eyes have been opened to many new opportunities and overlap between digital art and the business world. I definitely plan to continue to pursue digital art, with the end goal of gaining a Digital Art minor to go with my Finance and Accounting degree. I can’t wait to take another one of your classes in the future and I will make sure to continue to create art until then!

“Net.Art” is the transition to a more digital world, one where everything is easily accessible. The internet was the transition from physical phonebooks to digital networks accessible to all. It created an ease of communication between individuals far and close. It opened the doors to a world that is surrounded by fast, hands on communication from all dimensions of media, being able to push any information to the mass public from behind a screen. But with the internet allowing individuals to transfer information anonymously, it has negatively affected society through the creation of cyber-attacks. People have been using the internet unlawfully by cyber bulling people and even “cyber-raping” individuals. The internet has established their own society, which has required a drastic pivot in everyday life.

It can be argued that the internet has made everything seamlessly easier, but, being a devil’s advocate, I would say it has created a much more complex world to live in. With literally everything being at the tips of our fingers, it creates tension and a sense of insecurity for people. Constantly seeing the “best” case scenario as well as the “worst” scenarios, creates an attitude for individuals, that they must fall on either side of the spectrum, when in reality the healthiest lifestyle consists of a balanced life with natural ups and down.

I felt I was really able to dive into this animated project. With lots of experience using Adobe software, I thoroughly enjoyed learning how to use After Effects, as it pulled all my knowledge and skills and pushed it to the next level. Once I was able to decide on a theme, I had lots of fun discovering multiple dimensions to place my mouse in. I decided to create my project around my discovery of a mouse in our house. One afternoon when I came home from school, I noticed a mouse sitting to the left of our fridge, right beside the door from the kitchen to the garage. At first, I screamed on the top of my lungs, calling for all my roommates, but once I realized how sick and confused the mouse was, I toned it back. The little mouse looked like it was on its last leg, and I felt the only thing to do was to set the little guy/gal free. We scooped it into a red solo cup (see picture) and sent the mouse back into Chautauqua to be free. This experience inspired me to create the most absurd plot for how this mouse got into our house, because to this day, I have no idea how the mouse got inside, but I definitely have let my imagination tell the story. In the future I plan to continue with After Effects, as it seems like the perfect opportunity for me to develop my already strong Photoshop skills and push my art to the next level!
